Automotive Technical Trades Program

Congratulations on considering a career in Automotive Technical Trades. Canada depends on the work of skilled trade's people - there's always high demand for trained professionals in skilled technical trades. This demand is only going to increase as the Baby Boomer generation retires.

Technical Trades are getting highly specialized. You can be an expert in Mechanics, Wheels and Brakes, or be on the cutting edge of vehicle electronics. By getting into Tech Trades now you're getting a jump-start on a great career. People in skilled technical trades are rewarded for their efforts with good pay. In fact, as an apprentice you can start making money right away. You can "earn while you learn." The best part though, is that as a technical tradesperson you get paid well for doing work you enjoy..

That's why you are going to 'learn by doing' by working in a real shop on real project. In fact, more than half of your time is spent in the shop vs. the classroom.

GRADUATE PROFILE
Ernie Peters
Automotive Technician Graduate
It was a quick and sudden decision I had to make. I was a framer 2 weeks before coming to BC from Ontario. I had plans to eventually get my auto mechanic license, but when? My two friends that I came with convinced me to enroll in the Automotive Technician (Mechanic) program here at ATC. I had no idea what to expect from this program. During the course of the program I have been able to get to know my weaknesses and strengths; working and improving in both areas continuously. The instructors were terrific and from their own extensive work experience, they were able to imply that knowledge in the program and help us understand things we wouldn't quite get from out of the book.

Its been truly an amazing experience. Since the beginning of the program, I've been employed in the automotive industry. Its been quite helpful to use what I've learned in school out in the real world and able to turn heads doing so. The class times and shop times are divided into equally. It helped us all to practice what we had learned the previous day. I've gained a lot of courage and been able to expand my comfort zone around projects I initially thought I couldn't do. All in all if you are looking for a career, or a change in careers, ATC is definitely a good place to get a head start and an opportunity for a brighter, better and secure future.
